Purchase Agreement & Health Warranty
This contract will be signed by both the buyer and the seller before the puppy leaves our property.
Thank you for deciding to purchase one of our puppies. We want to make this a stress-free and enjoyable experience for you. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. This contract is written for the protection of both the breeder and the buyer as well as to protect the general health and well being of the puppy.
Purchase Agreement
Please read the health warranty completely before reserving or making a full payment for your puppy. By paying the reservation fee or full payment, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of this contract.
We require a $400 reservation fee prior to puppy selection. Adoption day will be a minimum of 8 weeks after the puppies’ birth. If we believe it is in the best interest of the puppy to stay with us a little longer, we will notify you. We can hold the puppy with full payment for up to 7 days beyond adoption day, then puppy boarding is available for $25 per day.
The reservation fee is refundable. If the puppy you want is no longer available when it is your turn to choose, you may apply the reservation fee towards a different puppy or for a future litter. If a buyer decides not to get a puppy after making a full payment, for any reason, even within 24 hours of making the payment, only half of the payment may be refunded.
Please be certain that you are ready for the time commitment and financial responsibility of owning a puppy prior to paying a deposit.
Health warranty
Seller's Responsibility:
1. Healthy puppy: GSG warranties the puppy is in good health, is current on vaccines, and has been dewormed at the time the buyer takes possession. The buyer has four business days to take the puppy to a veterinarian for an examination. If the puppy is found to be in poor health (as described below), the buyer has the option of returning the puppy to the seller, at buyer’s cost if shipping is required, for a full refund. If you wish to keep the puppy, you may choose a replacement puppy if one is available or be refunded 50% of the total purchase price. The buyer will provide a written statement from a licensed veterinarian clearly stating defect or illness. If the puppy is not taken to a licensed veterinarian within the four business days, the health warranty is void.
2. 2-Year Health warranty: GSG provides this warranty for two years after the puppy’s birthday against any debilitating genetic or congenital defects. This is defined as a genetic or congenital abnormality or disorder that will eventually cause early death with a life expectancy of less than 5 years where the disease would progress making euthanasia necessary or require extensive medical care that would ultimately be beyond the cost of the puppy.
3. What’s not covered: This warranty does not include viral illnesses, infections, improper bites, hernias, hypoglycemia, Giardia or Coccidiosis. It does not include any illness due to the ingestion of foreign objects, food, chemicals or physical injury. It does not include minor health such as kennel cough, allergies, fleas/ticks, ear infections/ear mites, internal or external parasites. These are common puppy health issues and are easily treated with medications. Puppies are very prone to these issues, because their immune system is not fully developed.
We cannot warranty our puppies against illness or opportunistic parasites brought on by stress such as moving (from our house to yours) or shipping. We also can't guarantee that our puppies will be "worm-free", as this is an ongoing process. However, these are easily and economically treated and should be discussed with your veterinarian at your first visit. The buyer is encouraged to get a fecal test done at the vet. Some puppies do not show any symptoms of internal parasites, even if they have them.
4. In the event the puppy exhibits symptoms of a suspected debilitating genetic or congenital defect, the buyer must supply any requested veterinary records to the seller within seven days of informing the seller of the vet’s prognosis. GSG has the right to require a second opinion from a veterinarian of the seller’s choice at the seller’s expense. If the puppy is euthanized or in any way disposed of, without a second opinion from the seller’s veterinarian, the buyer waives all rights to a replacement puppy.
5. If your puppy is determined to have a genetic or congenital defect within the first two years of life, we will either replace your puppy with a puppy from a similar litter or refund the purchase price (less any shipping or veterinarian fees incurred). Your puppy need not be returned to us provided there is documented support of medical condition. Shipping fees will not be refunded, and if it becomes necessary to ship a replacement puppy, those fees are to be paid by the buyer.
6. If the puppy should die from a suspected genetic or congenital defect within 24 months of its birth date, an autopsy must be performed at the buyer’s expense by a licensed veterinarian acceptable to the seller’s own veterinarian. If the autopsy shows a genetic or congenital defect as the cause of death, the seller will provide another puppy of equal value to the buyer. A written statement from the veterinarian must be provided. This warranty is void in the event of an undetermined or inconclusive diagnosis.
7. The breeder is not responsible for any vet bills after the puppy leaves the breeder's premises.
8. No warranties or guarantees, expressed or implied, are made under this contract except as stated. This warranty is non-transferable.
Buyer's Responsibility:
1. The buyer agrees to pay GSG a total sum of $ ______________. This fee does not include shipping or transportation, if either is required. The buyer bears all costs relating to the sale of the above animal.
2. The risk of loss or injury to the above animal is on the buyer at all times after the dog leaves the seller.
3. The buyer agrees to take the puppy to a licensed vet within four business days of purchase for an examination.
If within four days of purchase, the vet identifies a major genetic or congenital health issue, the breeder will offer a full refund or replacement of the puppy, provided that the puppy has not been injured or neglected. Some examples of major issues include: heart murmur, luxating patella, or any other issue where a puppy might require at least one overnight hospital stay or surgery. The veterinarian must provide a written statement documenting the health issue.
4. This puppy is being sold as a pet only and is not to be used for breeding. The buyer shall spay or neuter the dog at the time deemed most appropriate by your veterinarian.
5. We advise the buyer to make and keep annual veterinary appointments for their goldendoodle, keep all immunizations current according to the guidelines of the American Veterinary Medical Association and properly administer heartworm preventative medication. Please do not take your puppy to high-traffic areas such as dog parks, pet stores (you can carry your puppy at the pet store), busy parks or busy streets until they have completed the entire vaccination schedule at approximately 14-17 weeks old.
6. The buyer agrees to contact GSG immediately if the buyer determines they are unable to keep their goldendoodle for any reason. We will determine how the dog will be rehomed. The buyer agrees to never place the goldendoodle in a shelter, pound, or similar facility or a research laboratory. Our desire is for you to love this special puppy as much as we have. If your circumstances change and you are unable to care for the dog please return him/her to us. We will provide or find a loving home for the animal we are responsible for bringing into this world.
