Policies & Pricing
Please familiarize yourself with this information before reaching out to us about an available puppy. Thank you!
Make sure you are ready for a dog! We have worked with a number of people who spend a lot of time communicating with us only to decide they actually don’t want a puppy now. Please think through whether you and your family are ready for a dog before you contact us. If you are wanting to get on our waitlist for a future litter, or you are exploring options about the possibility of getting a dog, we are happy to work with you. However, it is not reasonable for us to spend hours helping you choose a puppy or working out transportation options if you haven’t actually decided that getting a puppy is the right choice for you. Please be respectful of our time and do some basic homework before messaging us.
Get your questions answered. The majority of questions people ask are answered either on this website, on GoodDog, or both. Please see our FAQs. Our parent dogs are all showcased on our website. You can click on the photos of specific dogs to see more pictures, health information, and photos of their previous puppies. All the health testing information for our dogs is posted on our GoodDog profile. You can scroll to the bottom of our main profile to see the dogs, or access the parents from the puppy’s page. When you click on the parent dog’s page, you can view the specific health tests you are interested in. We spend a lot of time trying to keep our websites up to date. Thank you for taking the time to read it. If you still have questions you can’t find the answers to, please reach out to liz@gracespringsgoldendoodles.com. If you discover any errors or outdated information, please let us know and we will correct it as soon as possible.
Pick a size: Goldendoodles come in a variety of sizes. Decide how big or small you want your dog to be and look at current or planned litters with a momma dog of that size. See sizing information HERE. Our puppies are sold with an estimated size range. We cannot guarantee a specific adult weight.
Fill out an application: The first step to getting your new puppy is to fill out a short application HERE. These questions help us know what kind of dog you are looking for and what information will benefit you the most. Be sure to tell us if you are interested in a particular litter (current or planned for the future).
Pay a deposit: A $400 reservation fee will hold your place in line to choose your puppy (if you’re on the waitlist) or hold the puppy you picked until adoption day. This amount is subtracted from the total price. If the puppy you want is not available when it is your turn to choose, you may opt to transfer to a higher position on a future litter, or you may request a refund. Once you are matched with a specific puppy, refunds are no longer granted. This is the ideal time to find the best homes for our puppies and we need to work with people who are committed. All payments should be made through GoodDog. Their platform is secure and safe for you and us. I have had issues when accepting other forms of payment. Please see more information in the section below.
Wait for your puppy: Puppy wait times can not be predicted with much accuracy. It depends on what you are looking for, how particular your choice is, when our dogs come into season, and what puppies are born in any given litter. Most of this, we have no control over. If you’re not ready to commit with a deposit yet, but you still want to be kept up to date on your options, please follow us on Facebook, for the most current information on our puppies. While you are waiting, start gathering necessary supplies for your puppy (see our list of recommendations) and find a vet and groomer you want to work with.
Choose your puppy: The timing for when puppies are chosen varies. Generally, with our multicolored litters, people fall in love with a particular color and know from the start which puppy they want. With our all red litters, people sometimes want to see how they grow a little bit before choosing. When it is your turn to choose, we ask that you please decide in a timely manner, recognizing that others are in line behind you and eager to be matched with their puppy as well. If you have paid a deposit, I am happy to send you additional videos if you are trying to decide between a couple of puppies.
Once you are matched with a puppy, I will send an email with additional information and a contract via email. The contract comes from either GoodDog or Dropbox Sign. Please check your spam folder. If you sign it right away, it is generally easier to find. You can read our full contract on our Health Warranty page. Please read it carefully before signing.
Get prepared: Make sure you have all the necessary supplies for your puppy. We highly recommend ordering your dog food and vitamins in advance and taking advantage of our special offers. Please see our FAQ page under “Choosing Your Puppy” for all the specific information and links.
Pick up your puppy: Puppies are ready for their new homes 8 weeks after birth. By then, they will be on solid kibble food, been checked out by our vet, received their first round of vaccinations, and begun foundational crate and potty training. The health and safety of our puppies is our top priority. If, for any reason, we feel a puppy is not ready to go home at 8 weeks old, we will keep the puppy with us a little longer. So far, this has not happened.
We need three things from you before the puppy leaves our property: a signed contract, fully payment, and proof of insurance with Trupanion or the company of your choosing.
We will schedule a time and date to pick up your puppy. Each family is given an hour with us to meet your new puppy, go over the paperwork, and ask any questions you have. The remainder of your payment is due before you leave our property with your puppy. Payments are easy on GoodDog via their app.
For puppies older than 8 weeks, we will hold your puppy for 7 days once you pay the deposit to give you time to make arrangements for pick up. If you need us to to keep your puppy longer than a week, we require full payment and signed contract up front. We also have a $25 per day boarding fee, which is the low end of boarding rates. If the puppy is due for the next round of vaccinations during this time, we will take the puppy to our vet at no extra charge for you.
Insure your new puppy: We have partnered with Trupanion Pet Insurance to offer you the first 30 days of medical coverage for your puppy at no cost. Please be prepared on Go-Home Day to either (1) provide proof of personal insurance for your new pet OR (2) your trial confirmation email from Trupanion, OR (3) activate your offer onsite before leaving with your puppy.
We believe in the value of insurance long term, especially during the crucial transition from our care to your beautiful new home! This is a ZERO OBLIGATION offer, meaning you don’t need to put down a credit card. Should you choose not to move forward for any reason, it will simply expire after 30 days. Protect your puppy: Every puppy is given a unique microchip from AKC Reunite. Keeping your contact information updated in their database is critical to getting your pet home safely should they ever become lost. We have found that in the busy days of bringing a new puppy home, about half of our families forget to take care of this. We have chosen to work with AKC Reunite because they have a one-time low fee to protect your pet for life. You will not need to renew your membership every year. You will just need to keep your contact information updated if any of it changes. SIGN UP WITH AKC REUNITE.
Enjoy your puppy! Now is the time you have been waiting for. If you have not raised a puppy before, you may have a lot of questions. We are available any time to assist you throughout the life of your dog. We do not want to pester you and we will leave you alone if you desire, but you are always welcome to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. As per your contract, your puppy will need to visit the vet within 4 days of coming home with you. At this visit, please ask your vet about flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. It is important to make sure your puppy gets all the recommended vaccines for your area according to your local vet’s direction. Also, you should spay or neuter your puppy at an appropriate time. Our puppies are intended to be pets only. Additional contracts and fees are required to use any of our dogs as breeding animals.
Register your puppy: All of our dogs are registered with the Goldendoodle Association of North America (GANA). Once the puppies receive their individual microchip identification, we register the litter with GANA. Using the paperwork we provide you, you can easily register your puppy with The Goldendoodle Society. LEARN ABOUT THE BENEFITS AND REGISTER YOUR PUPPY WITH GANA.
Keep us updated: We love to get pup-dates from our previous litters. Each and every puppy has a special place in our hearts. I won’t beg you for pictures and updates, but just know that you make my day when you send pictures of your puppies all grown up. It fills my heart! We like to share pup-dates on social media as well, but will not do so without your permission.
Get support: We are eager to help you and your puppy enjoy your life together. However, occasionally, a puppy doesn’t turn out to be a good fit or life happens and a family can no longer care for their dog. Should that happen, we invite you to reach out to us for help rehoming your dog. We do not want any of these precious animals to wind up unwanted or in shelters. We feel responsible for every life we help create. When we say you get “lifetime support” with your new puppy, we mean it. It’s not a marketing tactic. It’s what we do. We may be able to offer a limited refund of the puppy price in these instances once the puppy is settled in their new home. We will insure your beloved doodle goes to a great family and that they continue to be well cared for and loved.
Pricing
Our puppies are $2800 regardless of size, gender or color. The value of our puppies is the time, money, and effort we have poured in making sure these puppies are as healthy as possible. Every puppy comes with a vet check, first round of shots, microchip, a 2-year health guarantee, GANA registration papers, and 30 days of free, no-obligation health insurance.
We spend thousands of dollars per dog before we ever breed them. We purchase high quality, well-bred animals with breeding rights which usually incur additional fees. Then each dog undergoes vigorous health testing to get genetic and OFA clearances. Add to that food, regular vet care, and other dog essentials, and you can see how providing your family with a healthy puppy is an investment of time, money, and love from our family.
Genetics, pregnancy care, and the first 8 weeks of a puppy’s life are very foundational to the health and temperament of that dog as an adult. Our puppies are loved and cared for before they are even born.
PRICING VARIATIONS
Waitlist: If you are on our waitlist and choose to defer to a future litter, please be aware that your price will be whatever the current cost is for that litter. Our pricing may rise as our costs to produce premium puppies rise. Please note that Grace Springs Goldendoodles always reserves first pick to use in our own programs, however, we do not choose a puppy to keep on most litters. We would quickly run out of space! Puppies that will be used for breeding or service animals may jump to the top of the waitlist as these dogs have stricter requirements than a puppy going to a pet home. If we, a fellow breeder, or a service dog prospect does not use the pick of the litter spot, every one else on the waitlist will be moved up to fill in.
Sale pricing: We reserve the right to change the price of our puppies at any time. Sometimes, this means we will offer special, limited time discounts when it is in the best interest of finding our puppies good homes. This special pricing is only for customers who pay a deposit during the special sale window.
Breeding Rights: All our puppies are adopted with a strict spay/neuter agreement in place. Breeding a Grace Springs Goldendoodles puppy without permission will result in penalties. We offer breeding rights for additional $1000 per puppy to fellow GANA breeders or to non-GANA breeders who meet our standards of excellence. Breeders get the top spot on the waitlist after any puppy we reserve to use in our own program.
Referral program: Many of our best customers are the result of referrals from happy pet parents. We have a generous referral program. If you refer a friend or family member who adopts a puppy from us, you get a $100 Amazon gift card and they get $100 off the price of their puppy. Please let us know when placing a deposit who referred you so we can apply the discount.
Discounts: We have several discounts available. Please inquire if you think one of these applies to you: military and first responders, college students, teachers, repeat customers, referral, or medically approved candidates for service dogs.
OLDER PUPPIES
Rarely, we may have an older puppy or dog available that already has some training completed. The advantage of adopting an older pup is that many of the hassles of puppyhood are already outgrown. For example, they will likely be housebroken & vaccinated. They may have learned a few commands or been introduced to leash walking. If old enough, they will even be spayed or neutered. If you are interested in such a dog, please reach out to us and let us know. The pricing will be determined based on the investment of time spent training the dog. These opportunities are rare and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
